The Giant Anteater is covered with stiff, straw-like hair which grows up to 40 cm long on the tail. Young have soft hair until they mature. The dominant coloring may be grey or brown, but all have a diagonal black and white shoulder stripe. It is generally acknowledged to have a keen sense of smell, used to locate ants, but is thought to have poor sight and hearing. Despite its name, Myrmecophaga tridactyla, from the Greek meaning 'three-fingered ant eater', the anteater has five digits on each foot; however the middle three digits of the forefeet have elongated claws. These are extremely strong and are used to break open ant and termite mounds in order to feed, as well as effective defense from predators. The anteater walks on its knuckles in order to protect them, giving it a shuffling gait. In the wild, the Giant Anteater is nocturnal or active at night near human settlements and active during the day elsewhere. It stays mainly on dry ground but is a strong and capable swimmer. Unfortunately, this species has been erradicated from its natural habitat so all the individuals that exist in the country are seen in reserves and zoos.

This is the largest species of tegu. Its life span is about fifteen to twenty years. It inhabits the tropical rainforests of East and Central South America. Adult individuals like dense foliage and forage for food, of which they consume as much as possible before going into hibernation in autumn. They also exhibit an unusually high level of intelligence among reptiles, along with a high level of physical activity during the wakeful period of the year. Tegus are prone to food aggression; they will quickly learn to associate human presence with food, and may turn their enthusiastic feeding response upon their caretakers if certain precautions are not taken.
Groupers are protogynous hermaphrodites commonly seen on the east side of the River Plate estuary and the Atlantic Ocean. They change sex from females to a few dominant males. They are bottom-dwelling predators and highly commercial food fish.

The Southern Screamer belongs to the Order of Anseriformes. Its diet consists of plants stems, seeds, leaves, and, rarely, small animals. It is about 3.5 foot long and lives in swamps, estuaries and pool coasts. The Southern Screamer is a good swimmer but prefers to move on the ground. The bony spurs on their wings are used for protection against rival screamers and other enemies. Although it is non-migratory, it is an excellent flier. They are normally seen in pairs but sometimes gather in large groups if there is a food in one place. It establishes monogamous relationships that last a lifetime. Its lifespan is estimated to be 15 years. For the nest the couple makes a big platform of reeds, straws and other aquatic plants, in inaccessible places. The female lays between two and seven white eggs. Incubation takes 43 to 46 days and the couple take turns during this period. The chicks leave the nest as soon as they break the eggshell but the parents take care of them for several weeks. The fledging period takes 8 to 14 weeks.

The neotropical genus Adelpha includes 85 species distributed from western USA to Uruguay, and occurs in a wide variety of habitats from sea level to 3000 m. Adelpha larvae engage in an odd practice not known for other New World butterflies; they accumulate their fecal pellets, fastening them in place with silk, to form a mass which either surrounds the base of the support or is suspended beneath it.El género neotropical Adelpha incluye 85 especies distribuídas desde el occidente de EEUU a Uruguay, en una amplia variedad de habitats que van desde el nivel del mar hasta los 3000 metros.

This butterfly is a member of the Nimphalinae family, whose main trait is the peculiar forelegs; so much reduced that they appear to have only four legs. They are worldwide in distribution and the group includes some of the most familiar and evocatively-named species such as Painted Ladies, Peacocks and Admirals. Most Nymphalinae butterflies perch with wings open.
